• About CalInformed •

Student-Led. California-Focused. Built for Teens.

CalInformed was founded by a California high school student who believed young people deserve to understand the laws that protect their data — in plain English.

Why We Built This

California has some of the strongest data privacy laws in the world — but most teenagers have never heard of them. The CCPA, CPRA, and the Age-Appropriate Design Code give young Californians real rights over their data. CalInformed exists to make those rights legible, accessible, and actionable for the people they were designed to protect.

This project started as a one-person effort to answer a simple question: why doesn't anyone explain this stuff to us? It has since grown into a resource hub with original analysis, news coverage, and practical privacy guides used by students across California.

Our Approach Every article and guide on CalInformed is written with a 16-year-old reader in mind. No legal jargon. No paywalls. No ads. Just clear, honest information about your rights.
